About us
In 1782, the musical instrument maker Franz Ambros Alexander arrived in Mainz, the world famous town on the River Rhine, where Johannes Gutenberg had invented the art of printing. Franz Ambros joined the craft guild and founded a new company for the manufacturing of high quality musical instruments. Today, more than 230 years later, Gebr. Alexander is still owned and directed by the descendants of the founder.
Traditional manufacturing methods for brass instruments have been modernised over the centuries. Today, modern technology supports these methods wherever this improves the quality of the instruments. As we are working closely with leading musicians worldwide, further continual improvements of instruments are ensured. Latest scientific research in instrument making is regularly evaluated and introduced into our manufacturing process.
